Melinda O'Quin, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2025, in Byram, Mississippi, at the age of 66. Born on March 20, 1958, to Larue Son and Mildred Gloria Rodgers Lowery, in Mobile, Alabama.

Melinda was known for her positive spirit and infectious laughter, qualities that endeared her to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Throughout her life, she remained dedicated to her family, constantly uplifting those around her with her upbeat demeanor. She had a special affinity for her grandchildren, Maddie and Brady Reed, and never missed an opportunity to support them, especially at Maddie's softball games. Her love for family was evident in everything she did, and she cherished the time spent with them.

Melinda had a passion for activities that brought joy and relaxation. She enjoyed doing word search puzzles and found delight in her collection of popits, always knowing where to find a good deal. A lifelong fan of the Peanuts cartoons, particularly Snoopy, she appreciated the simplicity and happiness that these cherished animations brought to her life.

Her career as a homemaker and caregiver was both fulfilling and enriching. Not only did Melinda take joy in managing her household, but she also made significant contributions to her community by working with children in various daycares. When the daycare where she was employed closed, she took the initiative to open a daycare in her own home, showcasing her commitment to nurturing young minds.

Melinda is survived by her devoted husband, Gary O'Quin; her daughter, Kristi Reed and her husband Shawn; her son, Bryan O'Quin and his wife Christie; her beloved grandchildren, Maddie Reed and Brady Reed; her sister, Vickie Nickol (Mark); as well as her sister-in-law, Sherry McLaurin, and brother-in-law, Gary McLaurin.

Melinda is preceded in death by her parents, Larue Gene Lowery and Mildred Gloria Lowery; and her brother, Roger Gene Lowery.

Melinda O'Quin will be deeply missed by her family and friends, whose lives she touched with her warmth and genuine kindness. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who loved her, and her memory will be treasured forever.
