Melinda Sue Smith, a cherished member of her family, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2025, at her home in Rushville, Missouri, surrounded by her beloved husband and her favorite daughter. She was born the daughter of Marshall Goodlet, Sr. and Joy (Moudlen) on April 24, 1959, in Leavenworth, Kansas, Melinda led a life that was marked by simplicity, love, and a deep appreciation for the natural world.
Educated at Atchison High School, Melinda embraced a quiet life filled with the joys of fishing, mushroom hunting, and collecting antiques, particularly her treasured Jewel Tea glassware. She found immense pride in her home, always striving to improve it whenever she had the means, a testament to her dedication and care for her surroundings.
Above all, Melinda's heart swelled with pride for her family. She greatly adored her three grandchildren, treasuring every moment spent with them. Melinda was not only a devoted wife to Tom, whom she married on March 10, 2006, but also a loving daughter to her mother, Joy Griffin. She is survived by her mother, her husband, her daughter Stormy Davis and her husband Richard, two brothers, two sisters, and her three grandchildren.
Melinda will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She is preceded in death by her father, Marshall Goodlet, Sr., and a sister.
Cremation care has been provided by the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home. Private family graveside services will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
