Melissa Ann Hood Duhe’ was born on March 13, 1943, in Baton Rouge, LA. She passed away at her home in Prairieville on March April 7, 2024, at the age of 81. Melissa was a graduate of LSU, where she was a proud member of the Golden Band from Tigerland Member of the LSU Alumni Association. She retired from Orleans Parish Criminal Sheriff’s Office. In her youth, she enjoyed dancing and fishing, in later years, she loved to shop, do crossword puzzles, and she never missed an episode of Wheel of Fortune.
Melissa is survived by her daughter, Courtney Melissa Duhe’; granddaughter, Melissa Amelia Landry; beloved dogs, Francesca and Bourre’; step-children, Byron Duhe’, Deede Duhe’ Becker, E.J. Duhe’, Jason Duhe’, and Nadine Duhe’, as well as seven step-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ray C. Hood and Regina Lyons Hood; husband, Elias Jean Duhe’
Special thanks to all of the sitters who have done so much for our family over the years. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to Mental Health America or the SPCA are preferred.
A memorial service to celebrate Melissa’s life will be held at a later date.
