Missy was known for her warm heart, strong spirit, and the way she could light up a room with her presence. She was a devoted mother to her daughter, Ashley, and also the mother of her son, Derek. She shared a close bond with her sister, Chantell Kay, and brother-in-law, Vincent Kay. She was lovingly called "Aunt Missy" by her nephews, Dustin Hasty and Dakota Pelt, and treasured her time with her extended family. Missy also shared a lifelong
friendship with her best friend, Leslie Huckabay, and had a special closeness with her cousin Gypsy and Gypsy's fiancé, Derek.
She found great joy in cheering on her favorite teams, the New Orleans Saints and the Houston Astros. Her laughter and love for life will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Missy was preceded in death by her mother, Karen Marie Criswell (Hebert).
A celebration of Missy's life will be held at a later date, when her family and friends can gather in her honor. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Charcot–Marie–Tooth (CMT) Research Foundation. Melissa bravely battled this disease, and your generosity will help fund research toward treatments and a cure.
