Melissa Cook Reynolds, 64, of Port Sulphur, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.

Melissa was born on March 24, 1961, in Gulfport, Mississippi, and spent most of her life in Belle Chasse, Louisiana. She dedicated more than 20 years of service to the Plaquemines Parish School Board, where she made a lasting impact on her colleagues and students before retiring in January 2025. In 2007, she and her loving husband, Mark Reynolds, made their home in Port Sulphur, where they enjoyed life in “God’s Country” together.

Melissa’s greatest joy came from her family. She is survived by her devoted husband, Mark Reynolds, and her beloved daughters: Ashlee Ronquille (husband Joseph), Kristina Reynolds (Charles LeNormand III), Brittany Galmiche (husband Peter), and Lyndsee Naquin (husband Jason). She was a proud and loving MiMi to Lexie Fruge’, Natalyn Naquin, Cash DeMere, Landon Fruge’, Paxton Ronquille, Benson Naquin, Parker Ronquille, and Raymond Galmiche, and a caring Nanny to Betsey Manno.

She is also survived by her mother, Thelma Cook, and mother-in-law, Olite Reynolds; her siblings Roland Cook (wife Kim) who was also her best friend and “sista,” and Danell Catron (husband Don Paul); and her brothers- and sisters-in-law Dan Reynolds (wife Arlene), Ellery Reynolds (wife Rhonda), Melissa Taylor (husband Tony), and Anthony Manno, Jr. She leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews who adored their “Big Mel”.

Melissa was preceded in death by her father, Roland Cook, Sr., her father-in-law, Frank Reynolds and her sister, Robyn Manno.

A true lover of sunshine and the outdoors, Melissa found happiness working in her yard and spending time on the bayou with Mark on their beautiful boat. She adored her fur babies, Graycee and Izzee, and brought warmth and laughter to every gathering. Her kindness, radiant smile, and love for her family will be forever remembered and deeply missed.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Highway 23, Belle Chasse, LA on Thursday, October 9, 2025 from 9AM until 11AM. A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church on Thursday at 11AM. Interment will be at a later time. Mothe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
