Melissa Lee "Missie" Scott, 56, passed away unexpectedly on December 6, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Melissa was born on January 24, 1969, in South Bend to the late William and Judy (Pierce) McCaslin. She was lovingly raised for most of her life by her mother, Betsy McCaslin. She was also preceded in death by her infant son, Anthony Scott, in 1999.
In 1993, Melissa met the love of her life, Todd Scott. The two were united in marriage on August 25, 2016, in Elkhart, Indiana, at the home of William McCaslin.
Melissa loved taking photos of just about everything-sunsets, wild animals, Meijer delivery trucks, and the water towers of every city she visited. She especially loved spending time with her pets: Sasha, Babygirl, Tanner, Bo, her many cats, and a 50-pound tortoise named Tank. She loved all animals, and it was clear they loved her right back.
She enjoyed getting out and being social, whether that meant going to the bar with friends and family, visiting amusement parks, or spending a day at the zoo. Some of her favorite foods and snacks were lasagna, spaghetti, meatloaf, white cheddar popcorn, and of course, Reese's. She loved watching crime shows, Game of Thrones, and The Walking Dead, and she enjoyed playing video games like Resident Evil, Need for Speed, and Crash Bandicoot.
Melissa spent over 30 years working as a cabinet builder in the RV industry, and along the way she also picked up part-time jobs at places like 7-Eleven and Walmart. If there is such a thing as soulmates, it was Melissa and her husband, Todd. They were two opposite sides of a circle, perfectly made whole together.
Her love for her children and grandchildren was endless. She would have gone to the ends of the earth for them, and if she had something they needed, there was no question-it was theirs. She loved so many people, and in return was loved so deeply that many of them became family, even if they weren't related by blood.
Melissa found joy in the little things and had a deep love for all of God's creations. She was a bright, beautiful light to everyone who knew her. She could walk into a room filled with negativity and leave it full of laughter and smiles. Her energy was bigger than any room she walked into. Even in a crowd of 100 people, everyone either already knew her or would by the time she left-and she usually walked away with a few new friends.
Though the world feels quieter without her, Melissa's love, laughter, and larger-than-life spirit will live on forever in the hearts of those she loved, the lives she touched, and under God's care as she watches over us all.
She is survived by her husband, Todd L. Scott; her children, Amanda (Matt Smith) Rohrer, Shauna (Jesse) Rohrer, John (Kimberly) Scott, Nick (Marissa) Scott, Alicia (Jay) Rohrer, Austin (Ruth) Scott, and Marcus Scott; and her 16 grandchildren: Shaylin, Claira, Vince, Dohnavin, Madisyn, Kaydyn, Rylee, John Jr., Anayah, Bellemy, Nahvayah, RJ, Hezekiah, Zachariah, Aaliyah, and Javion. She is also survived by her brothers, William "Satch" McCaslin and Tony Pabon, and her sister, Marina Pabon, Mellissa Lewis, Christina Sanley-McAleer, Bill, Pat.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday, December 19, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in
