Melissa Sharp Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Torkelson Funeral Home of Tomah on Dec. 10, 2025.
Melissa "Missy" A. Sharp, age 57, of Tomah, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, December 8, 2025, at the Greenfield House in Tomah. She was born on May 15, 1968, the daughter of Joanne Cates, and was adopted by Roger and Sally (Neff) Waugh.
Missy was a woman whose kindness and warmth were felt by everyone who knew her. Throughout her diagnosis and treatments, she faced every challenge with remarkable strength, grace, and positivity. She nurtured others effortlessly and spent her life caring deeply for the people around her.
She had a wonderful childhood with her parents and brother Mike, she often said Joanne couldn't have handpicked better parents when she was adopted. Her love extended to her loyal Bulldog, Sadie, and to the city of New Orleans-her second home-and she cherished every chance she had to travel.
One of her proudest accomplishments came in 2002 when The Greenfield House opened. She poured her heart into it from the beginning, and she was passionate about caring for the residents, treating each one as family. She was one of the most hardworking caregivers, dedicated to lifting others up from the time she was young.
Missy had many joys in life: music, gardening, cooking, decorating, crafting, thrifting, and riding on the motorcycle with her loving husband Rick. She had a talent for everything she touched and carried a beautiful zest for life before her courageous battle with cancer.
Above all else, Missy's greatest accomplishment was raising her two wonderful children-a daughter and a son-whom she loved beyond measure. The moment she became Maxtyn's Grammy was one of the brightest blessings of her life.
She was a kind, caring, and compassionate person, and she undoubtedly left that legacy everywhere she went. She had a gift for making everyone feel special, always putting others before herself. To her family, she was home-their safe place.
Missy will be forever remembered for her beautiful, gentle heart and the mark she left on this world. She often told her daughter, "Take the trip, buy the shoes, eat the cake." Her spirit, her lessons, and her love will live on in all who knew her.
Her family is deeply grateful for the many special friends in her life, as well as the wonderful friends and staff of The Greenfield House and St. Croix Hospice, who supported her and cared for her with compassion.
She is survived by her husband, Rick; children, Mickensie (Mike) Wetzel and Aaron Raese, and Stephanie Roof; her grandson, Maxtyn Wetzel, along with Adeline Flagg and Aiden Roof; her brother, Michael (Laura) Waugh; her birth mother, Joanne; along with nieces, nephews and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roger and Sally.
A Celebration of Missy's Life will be held on Friday, December 19, 2025, 2:00 p.m. at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah. Family and friends are invited for visitation from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home on Friday. The Torkelson Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
