Melissa Smith, 48, of Topeka passed away on October 14, 2025. She was born June 30, 1977 in Bogalusa, Louisiana the daughter of William Smith and Carla Remington. She was raised in Bogalusa and graduated from high school there in 1995.
She moved to Topeka in February of 1999. She volunteered her time at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Topeka. In her free time, she enjoyed reading and loved her cats. Mac and Cheese was a favorite food and she enjoyed baking macaroni casseroles from an old family recipe that was handed down to her.
She is survived by her son, Michael G. Eddins of Topeka; two brothers, Nathaniel Remington and Jeffrey Remington and his wife of Bogalusa, LA and three nephews, Skylar, Justin and Christian Remington.
