Melrose Alford Perry Ferrell of Zebulon, NC died Monday, February 3, 2025. She was born in Franklin County on May 18, 1926, the daughter of the late Larby Franklin and Ruth Alford Perry. She was preceded in death by her husband Sprite Clifton Ferrell, brother Franklin Perry, and sister Barbara Jane Perry Finch.
Melrose was a faithful member of Wakefield Central Baptist Church where she served the Lord over fifty years in many different capacities. Most notable was her love for reading and serving as media services director for 25 years.
She is survived by her sons: Clifton Franklin (Cliff) Ferrell and wife Kim of Tennessee, Mel Alan Ferrell and wife Arliss of Zebulon; grandchildren: Austin Ferrell (Haleigh) of Zebulon, Sarah Gentry of Tennessee, Amber Ferrell of Zebulon, Crystal Ferrell of Zebulon; sister, Rebecca Beddingfield of Bunn, mother of Austin Ferrell, Kay Ferrell of Wendell; and a host of special nieces and nephews and their families.
The funeral service will be held at 10:45 am, Friday, February 7, 2025, at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel, 809 W. Gannon Avenue, Zebulon. Family and friends will visit before the service from 10:00 to 10:45 am in the mausoleum chapel.
Melrose will lie in state from 1:00 to 5:00 pm, Thursday, February 6, 2025, at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service & Crematory, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale, NC.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Endowment Fund at Wakefield Central Baptist Church, 308 Proctor Street, Zebulon, NC 27597.
