Visitation will be held on Monday, October 13, 2025, at Lynchburg Funeral Home in Lynchburg, Tennessee from 12:00 PM until 3:00 PM. A graveside service will immediately follow at Lois Cemetery in Lois, Tennessee.
He was born May 1, 1949, in Lincoln County, TN. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clifford "Tip" Burton and Margie Fanning Burton.
Melvin leaves behind his wife of 58 years, Joyce Eslick Burton and their children; Jeremy Burton (Betsy) of Lewisburg, TN and Holly Henry (Brian) of Tullahoma, TN. He was a proud "Pa" to his one grandson Avery Clay whom he called Doodle Bug and loved to aggravate.
He is also survived by one sister, Kaye Burton Eslick (Jerry) of the Lois Community.
Melvin, "Pa", also has three step grandchildren, Morgan Poteete (Ethan) of Belfast, TN and Paul and Jaden Henry of Tullahoma, TN; and two step-great grandchildren, Owen and Finley Poteete along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.
