Melvin Raymond Cummings, age 83, of Tioga, PA, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 surrounded by his family at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA. He was born on November 20, 1941, the son of Wilford and Esther (White) Cummings. Melvin and his wife, Laura, celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary on May 31, 2025. He was a mechanic most of his life. Melvin also worked in construction, drove truck, and worked for Boyer Kantz Survey for nine years. He loved kayaking, racing with his sons, hunting, fishing, biking, camping, and site-seeing. His family was very important to him. In the past, he was known as The Tioga Renegade on the CB.
Melvin is survived by his wife, Laura; children, Kevin (Mary) Cummings of Tioga, PA, Kelvin (Penny) Cummings of Lawrenceville, PA, Kelley (Jeff) Flack of Girard, PA, and Karla (Kevin) Hakes of Lawrenceville, PA; grandchildren, Angela, Scott, Chris, Josh, Cassandra, Britany, Jeffrey, Kimberly, Jennifer, Kristen, Tyrus, Taylor, Kyla, Elizabeth, Krista, and Lexi; thirty one great grandchildren; one expected great great grandchild; unofficially adopted son, Bill Copp; several nieces and nephews; cousins; in-laws, Betty Clark Decker, Katherine Albin Ferger, Michael and Gail Tanner, and Bonnie and Gregory Kindall. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Anthony Hakes; granddaughter Elisa; in-laws, Edward and Edith Tanner, Ossie Wilbur Slusser, Edward "Sonny" Tanner, and Delores Diane Tanner.
Friends and family are invited to call on Sunday, June 8, 2025 from 2pm to 4pm at Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc. 637 S. Main St. Mansfield, PA. A celebration of life will be held on Monday, June 9, 2025 at 4pm at West Jackson Baptist Church 1714 Alder Run Rd. Millerton, PA with Pastor Harold Burrell officiating. Private burial will take place in Cummings Family Cemetery at a later date. www.buckheitfcandcrematory.com
