Melvin George Morrison, age 83, passed away on August 3, 2024 in Magna, Utah. He was born on August 22, 1940 in Payson, Utah to William Morrison and Dorothy Matilda Howell Morrison. He married Wilma Mary Williams on June 27, 1967.
Melvin served his country in the Army. He served at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas. He was honorably discharged on September 30, 1965. Melvin worked in transportation while serving in the Army.
Melvin worked for Rio Grande, Southern Pacific, and Union Pacific for approximately 35 years. Melvin loves trains. He also enjoyed working in his yard, fixing vehicles, playing with his dogs, and going on trips with his wife. Melvin was always very sociable and loved to talk to people, he would wave and say hello to anyone he saw.
Melvin is survived by his four children, 16 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, his dog Chip, and one brother.
He is preceded in death by his wife Wilma Mary Morrison; son DaWayne E. Morrison; grandson Joseph Lawrence; nephews Jonathan and Andy Morrison; his parents William and Dorothy Morrison; and siblings Dean, Charles, and Dale Morrison.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, August 9, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Memorial Redwood Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah. You may visit with the family prior to services on Thursday, August 8, 2024 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Memorial Redwood Mortuary and prior to services from 1:00 to 1:45 PM. Interment following services at Memorial Redwood Cemetery.
