Myrna Jackson Obituary

Visit the Memorial Redwood Mortuary & Cemetery - West Jordan website to view the full obituary.

Myrna Crandall Jackson, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2025, at the age of 81.

Myrna was born on May 6, 1944, in Salina, Utah, to Dr. Harold Crandall and Cleo (Shepherd) Crandall. She married Tommy James Jackson on June 20, 1964, and they were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. They settled in Taylorsville, Utah, to raise their beautiful family.

She is survived by her husband, Tommy Jackson; daughters Melanie (Yates), Valerie (Williams), Brenda (Nelson); sons Thomas Jackson and Andrew Jackson; 13 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren, and sister Cynthia (Stemple).

She is preceded in death by her sister Darla (Westbrook), brother David Crandall, and parents, Harold and Cleo Crandall.

Myrna was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and faithfully served many callings throughout her life. Her faith was deep and sincere – she studied her scriptures daily and strived to be an example of Christ-like love to everyone she came in contact with. She worked at the Jordan River Temple for 13 years, a service she cherished deeply. One of her greatest passions was family history, and she spent countless hours researching genealogy for thousands of individuals. Her dedication to the sacred work left a legacy that will bless generations to come.

She had a beautiful, singing voice and was a proud member of the Choral Arts Society under the direction of Sterling Poulson, performing at venues locally and some across the country. The friendships she made were priceless to her. When her declining eyesight made it too difficult to continue, it broke her heart to step away from something she loved so dearly.

A woman of many talents, Myrna played the piano beautifully and often played each night after putting her children to bed – something they always treasured. She also found joy in painting ceramic Native American statues. Her work was being displayed at an art studio in Salt Lake City.

Despite lifelong, debilitating physical health challenges, Myrna was an incredibly devoted and protective mother. She made countless sacrifices throughout the years for her children and never let her struggles dim her love or limit her care for her family. Her strength, warmth, and unwavering support were unmatched.

To know Myrna was to feel seen, loved, and uplifted. Her kindness, compassion, and desire to make everyone feel happy and special will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, from 9:00 - 10:45 AM. Both the viewing and service will be held at the Paradise Ward building at 1555 West Lovely Rd. in Taylorsville.

Interment will follow at Memorial Redwood Cemetery, 6500 South Redwood Rd. in West Jordan.

All who loved her are welcome to attend and celebrate her remarkable life.
