Richard “Ricky” Despain was born on October 23, 1965, in Murray, Utah, to Sharon Goff Despain and Darwin Despain. He passed away after a long illness on August 23, 2025, at Sandy Health and Rehabilitation.
Ricky was an energetic child who wanted to know how things worked and to fix them. That was always his desire to work with his hands and try to help others. He had a variety of interesting jobs. One of which was a commercial fisherman in Alaska. He loved living there. He had a fun sense of humor, and you never knew what he would do.
Ricky graduated from Hillcrest High School with a GED. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was grateful to go to the temple.
Ricky loved the Lord, and he loved his family. He loved riding motorcycles. He had physical and emotional challenges in his life. He had a black support cat, Yoda, which he considered his baby.
Ricky is survived by his parents, Darwin and Sharon; siblings, Jacque Ramey of Montrose, Colorado, David (Amber) Despain of McKinney, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Kenneth and Phyllis Goff, and Lamar and Dortha Despain.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at 10:30 AM at Memorial Redwood Cemetery, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah.
