Dr. Merle Loudon, DDS, a beloved dentist and dedicated advocate for health and wellness, passed away on January 20, 2025, at the age of 92, in Wenatchee, WA.
Merle was born on October 11, 1932, in Manson, WA. He graduated from Twisp High School in 1950 and from the University of Washington Dental School in 1957. After two years of service as an Air Force Captain, practicing dentistry at Randolph AF Base in Texas, he moved his young family back to the Wenatchee Valley and opened his dental practice, serving the local community for the next forty years.
A man of many passions, Merle was an avid outdoorsman who found joy in nature through fishing and hunting. He was also a skilled pilot, orchardist, gardener, miner, art enthusiast, entrepreneur, and world traveler. He cherished opportunities to teach and share his knowledge with others. In retirement, he devoted much time to researching and writing books that focused on health and well-being through nutrition, with a particular focus on cancer treatment. His legacy of adventure and dedication to helping others will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to those he leaves behind.
Merle was preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia, two brothers, James and Wally Loudon, and sister, Idella Rempel. He is survived by his son Gene Loudon (wife Michelle); his daughter Cindy Loudon (husband Rick Kenney); five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 8th, at 2 PM, at Saddlerock Church at 1400 S Miller St, Wenatchee, WA 98801.

My name is Karen Baker. My mother (Judith Loudon Kee-1st cousin, father Andrew Lee Loudon) often shared email correspondences, from Merle, with me and she told the story of the Loudon family´s move to Washington from Altoona, Pennsylvania. Mom & I appreciated the valuable health insights Merle provided. We were saddened to learn of his passing. If you´d like to get in touch, my email is: [email protected]. Please accept our condolences.

A great man with a passion for sharing knowledge. I was lucky enough to take several of his courses and participate in a study club with him. He was tremendously generous with his time and always willing to assist a dentist aspiring to develop their skills in orthodontics.
