Merlin Paul Allie, of Huxley, IA, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2025. He was born January 8, 1942, in Nevada, IA, the middle son of Orlan and Agatha Allie. On October 18, 1963 he married Neala McFadden and they had one daughter, Christine.
Merlin joined the Army Reserves in 1966 and served his country for many years. He had a knowledge and passion for computers that led him to not only a long career in Information Technology at the Iowa Department of Transportation but also to building computer systems in his basement as part of a home business. He enjoyed snowmobiling, working on cars, hunting for vintage gas station memorabilia and traveling. Merlin was involved in the Huxley community over the years by serving his church, his daughter's school activities and the telephone company, to name a few. He was a loving and devoted father and husband with many, many cherished friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Orlan and Agatha Allie, his wife, Neala Allie, his brother, Melvin Allie, and his step-father, Lyle Culp. He is survived by his daughter, Christine (Randal) Anderson, his brother, Marvin (Roberta) Allie, three nieces and two sisters-in-law. Per Merlin's request, no services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation or WesleyLife Hospice.
