MY MERRIL D
I can't think,
Only pain I feel.
I'm in a fog.
Nothing seems real.
I lost my grandson
Today you see.
He was so special.
He was my Merril D.
He lives on.
Someone has his lungs, liver,
Kidneys for a start.
Best of all, someone has his kind,
beautiful heart.
Hopefully one day, his smiling
Eyes will see me.
That person will say "I know you.
You're my Mimi!"

Dear Jenny, I am Alexander Wallis´ mom, Merrill´s friend from Brown. They were all together as friends Tuesday night. Alexander would have driven the same road home, likely minutes before. I am writing to tell you that Alexander lost a brother too, my son Christian. Exactly 5 years ago on 25 November. There´s nothing I can say here that will help. I wanted you to know that we´ll be at the visitation on Monday so I can give you a hug - one sad mom to another. The sadness will never leave you, but I promise that moments of joy will return and that he is always, I mean always, with you. Christian never leaves my side. Our house has been very somber since we heard on Wednesday. We are with you in love and prayers. Anne Wallis
