Merrill Pittman Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory on Dec. 2, 2025.
Merrill Clyde Pittman, Jr., age 79, of Kathleen, Georgia, passed away on November 30, 2025. He was born on October 3, 1946, in Brunswick, Georgia, to the late Merrill Pittman and Mary Flanders Pittman. Merrill lived a life marked by dedication, craftsmanship, and quiet strength. After graduating high school, he answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Air Force. Following his military service, he continued his commitment to aviation through a long and respected career as an aircraft electrician at Robins Air Force Base. A man of many talents and hobbies, Merrill found joy in the outdoors and in working with his hands. He loved fishing, wood carving, and reading, and he took great pride in building models and crafting cast nets. His patience and skill shone through everything he created. Merrill was also a faithful member of Andrew Church, where he found fellowship and community. He is preceded in death by his parents; his son, John Merrill Pittman; his brother, Marshall Pittman; and his sister, Kathy Pittman. Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife, Barbara Pittman (Bayer); his children, David Pittman (Theresa), Anna Leverette, and Robin Pittman; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his sister, Lesa Collins; and his sister-in-law, Gayle Pittman. Merrill's legacy of love, kindness, and craftsmanship will live on through all who knew him. A service celebrating Merrill's life will be held on Saturday, Decemeber 6, 2025 at 2:00pm at Andrew Methodist Church. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered. With honor, Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory has been entrusted with arrangements.
