Merrita Ruth (Turley) Poe, 86, of Lane, KS died Saturday November 1st, 2025 at Life Care Center of Burlington KS. She was born January 21, 1939 in Towner, Colorado, the daughter of Wilfred and Mabel (Halfman) Turley. Merrita lived most of her life in Kansas, graduating from Vesper High School, Vesper, Kansas, with the class of 1957. Merrita was a Farm Wife, and a Genealogical researcher.
On May 19, 1958, Merrita was united in marriage to James Poe in Rantoul, KS. They shared sixty-two years of devotion to each other before his passing.
She is survived by her four children, Nancy J. Lillie Barger and her husband Mike, Linn Valley, KS, James R. Poe and his wife Diana, Greeley, KS, Dale E. Poe and his wife Janea, rural Osage County, KS, Anita R. Poe Wiley, Osawatomie, KS; Siblings Franklin Turley, Baldwin, KS, Laverl Turley, Fort Scott, KS, Fred Turley, McCraken, KS, Kenneth Turley, Stark, KS, Margaret Johnston, Butterfield, MO, Kathy Stansell, Rosemount, MN, Mary Lightfoot, Pawnee Rock, KS, Scott Turley, Lane, KS., fourteen grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her Husband Jim, one Sister Juanita Pearce, and a son-in-law, Robert L. "Bob" Wiley.
Merrita was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, and friend. She will be deeply missed and remain in the hearts and thoughts of her family and many friends forever.
A Service of Remembrance will be held 11 a.m., Monday, November 10, 2025 at Ruhamah Baptist Church, 2093 Texas Road, Rantoul, KS 66079. Interment will follow at Ruhamah Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, November 9, 2025 at the Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, 325 S. Hickory, Ottawa, KS 66067. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ruhamah Baptist Church and sent in c/o the Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, P.O. Box 14, Ottawa, KS 66067. Condolences may be sent to the family through www.lamb-roberts.com.
