Messan Alex Kwaku-Mensah, 68, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away, Monday, October 7, 2024, at Doey's House.
Born Wednesday, October 26, 1955, in Togo, West Africa he was the son of the late Emmanuel Ocloo Kwaku-Mensah and the late Esther (Bendu) Kwaku-Mensah.
Messan started his life with primary school at the Catholic School of Cathedral in Assiganme in Togo. Later he went on to study at the Institute of Language in Ghana. He worked for Sabena Airlines and Nigeria Airways in Togo, prior to moving to the U.S. After arriving in the U.S. he worked for JetBlue and Spirit for a few years, and moved on to Ourisman Honda of Bethesda. He was an avid tennis player and coached many people over the years.
He is survived by his wife Aku-Sika Passi FLORL, daughters, Abla Vyda Kwaku-Mensah and husband Bruno Kokoume, Ayawa Juanita Kwaku-Mensah and husband Thierry Batchassi, Samantha Ayawa Kwaku-Mensah, sons, Ryan Komi Kwaku-Mensah and Kevin Yao Kwaku-Mensah, sister, Akossiwa Lydia Kwaku-Mensah and her children, brother, Anani David Kwaku-Mensah and wife Olga and their children, grandchildren, Maria-Bakhita Kokoume, Mariella-Batya Kokoume, Marco-Benigno Kokoume and Maite-Betsy Kokoume.
Services will be held Saturday, October 19, 2024, at 12:00 pm, at the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North Hagerstown, MD, with the Pastor Kennedy Odzafi officiating.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home, Saturday, October 19, 2024 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm.
Interment will be at the Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown, MD.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Doey's House c/o, Hospice of Washington County 1710 Underpass Way, Suite 300, Hagerstown, MD 21740.
