MIchael Wayne Abe

Michael "Mike" Wayne Abe, 67, of Cumberland, died January 14, 2026, at UPMC-Western Maryland.
Born June 27, 1958, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Eugene F. Abe, Sr. and Agnes (Hornick) Abe.
He was also preceded in death by a brother-in-law, James Cottle.
Mike was a graduate of Flintstone High School and had also attended Vo-Tech.
He was retired from the banking industry, having worked for First National Bank of Maryland, which later became All First, F & M Bank, and then Truist Bank.
In his spare time, Mike liked doing genealogy work. He also enjoyed woodworking and loved handyman tasks!
Survivors include his beloved wife of 41 years, Joni Lou (Cooley) Abe; his siblings, Virginia Lancaster, Ruby Cottle, Eugene F. "Sonny" Abe, Jr., James Abe, Catherine Bradley, Barbara Mawhinney, and John Abe; and several adored nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at Bethel Methodist Church Cemetery on Monday, January 19, 2026, at 1:00 PM, with Rev. Walter Lancaster, officiating.
