Michael Paul Adams, age 74, of Pierceton, IN, passed away at 12:54 pm on Wednesday December 18, 2024, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. Born on March 12, 1950, in Decatur, IN, to Paul and Viola “Ginny” (VanWald) Adams. On August 10, 1996, he married Tanya Kerr in Pierceton.
Mike attended Columbia City Joint High School and graduated with the Class of 1968. Following high school, he worked for United Telephone as a repairman and installer. Then he and his dad went into business as Paul Adams & Son Plumbing and Heating in the 1980s. Later in life he returned to telephone installation and repair, along with continuing his own heating and cooling business until his passing. Throughout his career he earned numerous certifications in HVAC.
Mike loved watching, umpiring, officiating, and coaching sports. He also played slow pitch softball and enjoyed following all sports, especially I.U. Mike read the newspaper daily to stay up on current news.
Survivors include his wife Tanya Adams of Pierceton; children Shannon (Ines) Adams-Maraldo of Fort Wayne, Scott (Marrianne) Adams of Carmel, Stacie (Tony) Farmer of Bloomington, Shala (Scott) Bradley of South Whitley and Shane (Jessica) Kerr of Pierceton; 17 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sisters Marsha (Greg) Reynolds and Debra (Randy) Vanderford, both of Columbia City; father-in-law Clifford Linn of Pierceton; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Ginny Adams, sister Karen Barnhart, brother-in-law Lloyd Barnhart, nephew Timmy Reynolds, niece Hayley Reynolds, and mother-in-law Norma Linn.
Friends may call on Monday December 23, 2024, from 5:00-8:00 pm at DeMoney Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City.
Funeral services for Mike will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday December 24, 2024, at the funeral home.
Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton.
Memorial contributions in memory of Mike may be made to DeMoney Grimes towards final expenses.
