Michael Alkire Obituary
He was born February 12, 1944, in Lafayette, to the late Truman and Ellen (Moore) Alkire.
After high school Michael joined the US Army and was honorably discharged.
On February 15, 1969, he married Frances White. She preceded him in death on December 5, 2013.
Michael worked in sales for Rowe Trucking for 25 years before retiring. After retirement he drove for Lewis Motor Sales for several years.
He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and all of their activities and collecting tractors.
Surviving are three sons, Scott Alkire of Lafayette, Brian (Melissa Franks) Alkire of West Lafayette, and Shawn (Brenda) Alkire of Dayton. A brother, Alan (Denise) Alkire of Lafayette, and a sister, Marsha (Max) Biery of Morristown, TN. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Payton Alkire, Kaitlyn (Brady Myers) Alkire and Kennedy Alkire and a step grandchild, Anthony Harsch.
Those wishing may donate in Michaels' name to the charity of your choice.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the time of the service at 1:00 pm on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Lafayette, with Kent Biery officiating. Burial will follow next to his wife at Plainview Cemetery in Colfax.
