Michael Allen, affectionately known as "Grandpa," left this world on September 22, 2025, at the age of 66, following a short illness. He passed peacefully in his beloved home in Colorado, surrounded by those he cherished most. Michael was born on October 22, 1958, in New York and lived a life enriched by his selfless, caring nature and an unwavering devotion to family.
A proud veteran, Michael served with honor in the United States Marine Corps, where he showcased his talents in the drum and bugle corps. This experience not only allowed him to wear his dress reds with pride but also provided him the opportunity to perform at esteemed events, including speaking engagements for President Carter. His commitment to his country was one of his proudest accomplishments, alongside the love and joy he found in his family.
Michael's dedication extended beyond service; he was a protector, especially to his baby sister, ensuring her safety throughout their school years. His loyalty and sense of humor transcended the bonds of brotherhood, creating memories that his family will forever treasure. He had a unique gift for teaching, sharing his knowledge of chess with children, instilling in them the values of strategy and patience, all while nurturing their love for the game.
Those who knew Michael will remember him as a beacon of light, always ready to lend a helping hand. His selfless disposition painted every moment spent with him in warm hues, reminding us of the importance of love and loyalty. He delighted in the great outdoors, often lost in the beauty of nature, whether camping, hiking, or fishing. Michael was also an avid cook, famously declaring, "The more beer you put in the cook, the better the food would come out." This infectious philosophy reflected his joyful, lighthearted personality and his talent for bringing people together through food and laughter.
Michael's legacy is one of profound love and joy, marked by the countless memories he leaves behind. The essence of who he was—the commitment to serve his country, the warmth and protection provided to his loved ones, and the joy he found in simple pleasures—will remain etched in our hearts. He is survived by his family and friends who will carry his spirit in their lives, nurturing his memory with every gathering and shared laugh.
A viewing will take place on October 2, 2025, at the Newcomer Funeral Home, West Metro in Denver, Colorado. The family invites all who knew and loved Michael to join them in honoring a remarkable man whose legacy will continue to inspire those left behind.
