Michael Allocco Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Paul Ippolito Berkeley Memorial on Sep. 10, 2025.
Michael J. Allocco, Jr., 73, of South Plainfield, NJ, passed away suddenly on September 8, 2025.

Born in Summit, NJ, Michael was the beloved son of Theresa (Cirelli) and the late Michael J. Allocco, Sr. He grew up in New Providence, where he spent many meaningful years before settling in South Plainfield 40 years ago.

A graduate of Union Catholic High School, Michael went on to earn his bachelor's degree from Stonehill College in Easton, MA. A true entrepreneur at heart, he founded and operated AKA Inc., a screen-printing company based in South Plainfield, and Special-Tees, a custom T-shirt shop in Berkeley Heights. He also had a notable presence in the liquor distribution and import industry.

Michael was a gifted athlete from an early age. He played professional basketball with the Baltimore Capital Bullets and later gave back to the game as an assistant coach for the South Plainfield High School basketball team, shaping and inspiring young athletes. His athletic journey also included a brief professional boxing career. Off the court, Michael loved a day on the golf course, the simple pleasure of a fine cigar, and the excitement of visiting the casinos in Atlantic City and Bethlehem.

He was predeceased by his father, Michael J. Allocco, Sr.

He is survived by his cherished his wife of 43 years, Carlene (Clark) Allocco. He was the proud and loving father of Ashley Wilson and her husband Billy, Michael Allocco III, and his wife Karina and Courtney Allocco. He is survived by his devoted mother, Theresa Allocco; He leaves behind his dear brothers: Jerry Allocco and his wife Linda, Frank Allocco and his wife Phyllis, and Richard Allocco. Michael was a treasured grandfather to Vance and will be fondly remembered by many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and his loyal dog, Sophie.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation on Friday, September 12th, from 4:00–8:00 PM at Paul Ippolito Berkeley Memorial, 646 Springfield Ave, Berkeley Heights, NJ. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 13th at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Peace Church, 111 South St., New Providence, NJ. Interment will be private.
