Thomas William Bobsein, 68, of Whiting, NJ, passed away with his loving family by his side on January 9, 2026.
Visiting will be held in Paul Ippolito Berkeley Memorial, 646 Springfield Ave., Berkeley Heights, NJ on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 from 4-8 PM. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Our Lady of Peace Church, South St., New Providence, NJ on Thursday, January 15, 2026 at 10 AM. Interment to follow in St. Teresa's Cemetery, Summit, NJ.
Thomas was born in Stamford, CT and resided in Randolph, NJ before settling in Whiting, NJ.
He received his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Fairleigh Dickinson University. During his undergraduate studies, he worked on the student newspaper, The Metro, and planned numerous student events. He earned a Master of Science in Taxation from Seton Hall University. He had an extensive career as a Certified Public Accountant, while working in the pharmaceutical finance industry for many years.
Thomas was a runner throughout his whole life. He was inducted to the Monsignor Donovan Hall of Fame from being an accomplished runner in high school. Thomas continued as a competitive marathon runner, completing the Boston Marathon twice, as well as the Jersey Shore and Cape Cod marathons. He was a USATF and Morris County Striders running club member.
Thomas was a basketball coach and golfer. He enjoyed taking numerous vacations with his family. He enjoyed Litchfield Beach and Golf Resort in South Carolina, where he played numerous courses. Thomas loved music and played the organ.
Thomas is survived by his loving daughters, Kathleen and Laura Bobsein, Patricia Bobsein, his cherished siblings Richard Bobsein and his wife Barbara and Laurel Severson, as well as a host of friends and colleagues.
