Michael Henry Andrews, 68, of Galveston TX, passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 24th, 2023. Michael, better known as Mike, was born May 1st, 1954, in Longview, TX to Earl G. Andrews (Andy) and Dolores Andrews. He was raised in Galveston and enjoyed being on the beach, swimming and surfing. He attended Galveston Catholic Schools and graduated from Ball High School in 1973.
Mike learned the carpentry trade after high school. He went to work with his brothers: Skip and TC for many years. Later Mike went to work for McDaniel's Construction where he remained for 30 years. He retired in 2019, but his love of the trade did not end. His work can be seen all over Galveston Island, as he was highly sought after for his expertise in carpentry. He loved his work and continued to practice carpentry up until his last days, teaching his son the trade and doing work on his daughter's house.
Mike also had a passion for sports and art. He loved to watch the Houston Astros and Houston Rockets. He shared a passion for art with his daughter, Mallory, and they loved sharing their artwork with one another.
Mike's children were his pride and joy, he loved them with all he had and was undoubtedly proud of them and all their accomplishments. The birth of his grandchildren brought more love and being able to spend time with them was the highlight of his days. He enjoyed having time to play with them and watch them grow.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Earl (Skip) G. Andrews Jr., Thomas Carl (TC) Andrews and one sister; Virginia Andrews. Mike is survived by his son: Michael C. Andrews and wife: Toni, grandson: Myles; daughter: Mallory C. (Andrews) Harper, husband: Richard, grandson: Bodhi; former spouse, Sylvia Andrews; sister, Kathryn Smith; sister in-law, Brenda Andrews and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mike will be remembered as a hardworking man, a close friend, and a loving father/grandfather.
A service and visitation will be held at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home; Thursday March 30th. Visitation will begin at 1pm with the funeral vigil to begin at 2:00pm, Deacon Robert Standridge officiating.
Please join us after the service at Mike's favorite hangout, Woody's on the beach, to commemorate his life.
