Michael Baase Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Mills Funeral Home, Peters & Murray Chapel - Grand Ledge on Jan. 31, 2025.
Michael John Baase, of Delta Township, MI was born on February 23, 1955, in Saginaw, Michigan, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2025, at the age of 69. A cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Mike's warmth, and kindness touched the lives of everyone he met.
He is survived by his loving wife of many years, Cheryl (Garrison) Baase, and his devoted children, Danielle (Jared) Robertson, Nicole (Jonathan) Schuiling, and Jeff Younk. Mike's joy was multiplied by his grandchildren, Christian Quealy, Samuel Schuiling, Jacob Schuiling, Jorden Ball, Layla Younk, Cecilia Younk, Zach Robertson, and Luke Robertson, all of whom he loved deeply. He also leaves behind a legacy of fond memories with his many nieces and nephews, his brothers, Steven Baase and Bob Baase, and his sister, Dawn Kazmerski-Spooner.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Robert and Dorothy (Kingham) Baase, and his sisters, Brenda Leiner and Shari Newman.
For many years, Mike dedicated his skills as a technician to Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, where he was not only respected for his work ethic but also cherished for his camaraderie and support.
Beyond his professional achievements, Mike was an avid deer hunter, a pastime that was more than a hobby-it was a passion. He found solace in the serenity of the woods and the traditions of the hunt. The quiet moments at dawn, surrounded by nature, provided him with a profound sense of peace and a connection to the world around him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. with a time of sharing beginning at 5:00 p.m. at Mills Funeral Home, Peters & Murray Chapel, 301 E. Jefferson St., Grand Ledge, MI 48837. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in loving memory of Michael Baase to Believers Christian Church Building Fund, 15200 Wright Rd, Grand Ledge, MI 48837.
