Michael John Bair, 59, passed away suddenly on Thursday, December 5, 2024. Born on September 3, 1965, in Canton, Ohio, Mike was a longtime resident of Greentown, and his home always had an open door, with friends and family constantly coming and going.
In 1988, he started Bair Excavating and could do any job set before him. On any given day, you could find him wearing his favorite aviators, a pair of Hey Dudes, and coffee in hand while working in the shop or driving the golf cart.
Mike was a man who lived life to the fullest and made everything fun. He loved to passionately share about a good meal he had or regularly repeat his favorite movie quotes, like, "I feel the need, the need for speed." He thrived on adrenaline, whether it was riding his speedboats across Lake Erie, roller coasters at Cedar Point, or zooming across his dad's pond on a snowmobile.
There was nothing he thought he couldn't do, and we all felt the same. Though he could sometimes be a glorious pain in the neck, you always left any conversation with him with a smile on your face, knowing how much he cared about you. As a dad, he always made sure his girls knew how much they were loved and how proud he was of them, and all three of his daughters carry that deeply within them.
He exuded strength and was a true "man's man." Mike could fix or build anything, drive any piece of machinery, and always made things happen. Once you were in his world, he always had your back. Generous and always ready to lend a helping hand, he did so without expecting anything in return. Charming, friendly, and easy to love, Mike left an imprint on everyone he met.
His absence leaves a massive hole in our hearts, but his influence will remain forever. We are grateful for the time we had with him and trust in the hope of eternal life offered through Jesus.
Mike is survived by his loving partner, Jessica Weber, and their daughter, Chloe; his ex-wife, Diane Bair, and their daughters, Niki (Jordan) Shirkman and Danni (Blake) Phillips. He was a cherished Pop Pop to Layla, Raegan, Alana, Everett, Griffin, Sienna, Adler, and Selah. He also leaves behind his parents, Don (Mary Alice) Bair and Doris Bair; and his siblings, Sherri (Jim) Ellis, Diane McCutcheon, and Jeff Bair. He was a proud uncle to Valerie, Lindsay, Jake, Ashlei (Michael), Bradley (Natalie), Autumn, Adde, Lily, David, and Ella.
Calling hours will be Thursday, December 12, 2024 from 6pm to 8pm at Reed Funeral Home NORTH CANTON Chapel (801 Pittsburg Ave NW, North Canton, OH 44720). A funeral service for family and close friends will be held on Friday at 11am at the funeral home. He will be buried in Sunset Hills Burial Park.
