Michael W. Basham Sr., a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on November 30, 2025, at the age of 70. He was born on December 31, 1954, in Louisville, Kentucky.
He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, demonstrating a commitment to service that extended well beyond his military years. Michael worked as a distributor for Little Debbie (McKee Foods) for over 40 years until his retirement. He was a long-time member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, where he actively participated in the community and found fulfillment in his involvement with St. Vincent de Paul.
A man of many talents, Michael was particularly gifted in working with his hands. He could fix anything, and his passion for woodworking allowed him to create pieces that were not only functional but also beautiful. His hobbies and interests were centered around his deep love for his family, who were the cornerstone of his life.
Michael is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Robin Basham, and their children: Michael (Kassi) Basham Jr., Christopher (Laura) Basham, and Amanda (Aaron) Basham Johnson. His legacy continues through his treasured grandchildren: Bethany, Owen, Amelia, Joseph, Christopher Jr., Charles, Charlotte, Chandler, Genevieve, and Sawyer, along with his great-grandson, Gabriel. Michael is also survived by his siblings: Nancy Westerfield, Rose (Carl) Austin, Larry (Judy) Basham, Timothy (Hazel) Basham, and Richard Basham III; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Richard Basham Jr. and Genevieve Howard Basham; brothers, David Basham and Joseph Basham; brothers-in-law, John Westerfield and Steve Zanone; and sister-in-law, Evy Basham.
Michael W. Basham Sr. leaves behind a legacy of love, craftsmanship, and service. His spirit will forever be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, December 5, 2025 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany).
