Michael Joseph Bishop
"Mikey"
June 8, 1979 ---- Oct 26,2024
Michael, "Mikey", Joseph Bishop was born June 8, 1979 to Faye Yvonne "Hare" Bishop and Kevin Jon Bishop in Mesa Arizona. He passed away on Oct 26, 2024.
Outgoing, Energetic, competitive and a strong dedication to helping others best describes Michael.
He had a talent for putting people at ease, making friends with everyone and was Always happy to help. Giving came easy to Mikey and he enjoyed mentoring new hunters. Young or Old. I can remember on more than one occasion we thought we might need to call out a search team to find him only to discover he was actually rescuing someone else.
Good man is an understatement and our Family was truly blessed for the time we had together.
Michael lived in Linden Arizona and is survived by his wife, LaRene "Spires" Bishop; brothers, Kevin Jon Bishop Jr, and Robert Jason Bishop; nephews, Jason and Korben Bishop; nieces, Julia Cluff-Bishop, Alayna Bishop, Haylee Jones-Bishop, Chasey Bishop and Josie Yost.
He moved to Lakeside Arizona in 1986 with his family, and graduated from Blue Ridge High School. He was an active competitor with the Sunrise Ski team, Little League Baseball, AYSO Soccer, Junior High football, Cross Country, Track, and Wrestling.
He enjoyed his high school Automotive "Shop class" and was proud to be a team member representing Blue Ridge in the Arizona High School Pit Crew Challenge.
Michael joined the Marine Corp after high school and after returning home to the white mountains met and married his wife of 20 years, Larene.
He continued to pursue his passions for being outdoors; hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, horseback riding and running. Michael remained competitive throughout his life. He actively competed in Obstacle Course racing from 2012 to 2018, earning the right to run in the Spartan World Championship events in 2014 and 2015, as well as the OCR World Championship events in 2014 and 2016.
In true Mikey style we would like to honor his life outdoors on November 16th, sharing stories, photos and memories. We will have an area set up to view any photos you would like to bring and share.
Event will be held at the Linden Valley Arena, 1100 Pearce Rd, Show Low. Arizona, starting at 12:00 Noon.
