Michael David Bolfik, age 48, of Waukee, Iowa passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on April 13, 2025 in Des Moines. Mike was born on October 11, 1976 in Sioux City, Iowa. He grew up close to there in a small town called Marcus, Iowa with his parents David and Susan and sister Deb. There were many great memories made there with childhood friends and cousins who he maintained close relationships with throughout the years. In 1985 the family moved to West Des Moines, Iowa where Mike attended Sacred Heart Elementary, Dowling High School, Valley High School and eventually received his high school diploma from DMACC. Mike's love and vast knowledge of music, namely punk, metal and rock was one thing that set him apart from most others. His boisterous voice and unmistakable laughter would fill any room he entered while wearing one of his signature scally caps. He also loved watching movies and fishing in tournaments with his close friends. He had several jobs over the years in warehouses, bars and restaurants all over Iowa and in San Diego where he lived for a short while. In 2002 he was working at a local music club called The House of Bricks in Des Moines, where he would ID his future wife, Jennifer Thorpe. They were married in Las Vegas in September of 2004 and would soon settle into their own home in Waukee, Iowa where they raised 2 children, Gage and Caydence. There are so many cherished memories our friends and family will keep in our hearts forever, knowing how strong his love was for anyone close to him. This is the image we will always remember of him. Mike is survived by his wife Jennifer, son Gage, daughter Caydence, sister Deb and mother Susan. He was preceded in death by his father David.
A celebration of life will be held May 4, 2025 from 5-7 at the Waukee Community Center at 675 Walnut St. Waukee, IA 50263.
Please keep his family in your prayers during this difficult time.
