Michael Bougades, a beloved friend and cherished member of the community, passed away on March 18, 2025, at the age of 58. Born in New York City, New York, on August 6, 1966. He is survived by his loving sister, Kim Corless of Trinity, FL and brother, Peter Bougades of River Edge, NJ. His parents were the late Manny & Mary Bougades and siblings of the late Billy & Joanne Corless. His memory lives on with his nephew, Danny Mazzarella and niece Sarah Stavarski.
Michael was a man of unwavering loyalty, dedication, and passion who touched the lives of everyone who knew him.
In his early years, Michael moved with his family to Bogota, New Jersey, where he attended Saint Joseph’s grammar School (1981) and graduated Bogota High School (1985) where he cultivated a love for sports, excelling in football and baseball. Sports became a lifelong passion for Michael, and he was a devoted fan of the New York Yankees, New York Giants, Denver Broncos, New York Rangers and Boston Bruins. His enthusiasm for the games he loved was contagious, and he proudly embraced the spirit of a true Buccaneer.
Michael also served in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged.
Michael’s dedication extended beyond his personal interests. For over 35 years, he served as a hard-working and honest employee of the United States Postal Service, where his colleagues admired his commitment and integrity. After a long and fulfilling career, he retired with the respect and appreciation of those who worked alongside him.
He will be remembered for his kindness, his love of sports, and his steadfast loyalty to family and friends. Michael’s legacy of warmth, caring, determination, and joy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
A celebration of Michael’s life will take place on Saturday, April 5th from 6:30p-8:00p at Petrik Funeral Home, 140 Palisades Ave, Bogota, NJ.
