Obituary
Michael S. Cacace, 67, of West Haven passed away June 9, 2023, at The Connecticut Hospice after a brief illness, with his beloved wife Melanie by his side. He was born in New Haven on July 27, 1955, a son of the late Daniel and Julia Majewski Cacace. Michael is survived by his wife Melanie Kimberly Cacace; two stepsons David (Stacy Allen) Wray and Dennis (Kristin) Wray, both of Durham; seven grandchildren, Dana Wray, Emily Allen, Denise Wray, Ashley Allen, Julian Swan, Shelby Swan, and Abby Swan; sisters Jan Busitzky of Minnesota and Jody Raucci of West Haven; brother Anthony Cacace of West Haven; uncle Thomas Cacace of North Haven; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mike worked at Connecticut Transit for over thirty years, retiring in 2017, giving he and Melanie time to travel with their camper, which they enjoyed up until April of this year. They have traveled from Maine to Florida, with many sites in-between. Mike was a member of the West Haven Volunteer Engine Company 4 for forty-five years and Captain for thirty-five years, the longest of any member to-date. He was an avid volunteer at many West Haven community events, always ready to help and lend support to various causes. Mike lived life to the fullest- he loved to cook, travel, shop, and spend time with family and friends. "Pop" was very supportive of all the grandchildren's activities, spending many hours at softball fields, recitals, plays, and the Stafford Motor Speedway. He will forever remain in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, June 13th from four to seven o'clock. On Wednesday, his procession will depart the funeral home at 9:45, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Lawrence Church at ten o'clock. Interment will be private.
Donations may be made in Mike's honor to The Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Road, Branford.
