Michael "Mikey" Zachary Castillo, 33 years young, rested peacefully in the arms of the Lord on March 2, 2025.
Mikey was born in the early hours of March 27, 1991, in Fort Worth, Texas. He will always be remembered for his loving and free-spirited nature. He had an infectious energy and was the life of every gathering. As a young boy, he was always seen with a ball in his hands. His parents signed him up for many different sports, a natural competitor, but it was obvious where his real passion lay – football. From pee-wee flag football to a decorated athlete, he excelled in all he did. As a 2009 Arlington Heights Alumnus, he made everyone feel like a friend. He loved meeting new people, sharing stories, and spreading laughter wherever he went. He often joked that he was a "walking Encyclopedia", a title that inspired his undergraduate studies in Kinesiology and History. With a vibrant personality, he loved bartending, allowing himself to connect with everyone he met and form lasting friendships.
Mikey, as a proud Texas Tech Raider, sparked a lively sibling rivalry in the Castillo household. The family home was often divided in shades of burnt orange, purple, maroon and red. He had a knack for his nostalgic way of quoting movie scenes and found joy in spending Saturday mornings watching cartoons. It was a beloved pastime that never faded with age. This joy grew into a long-time passion that inspired him to create his T-shirt brand, Saturday Mornings. He shared a special bond with his sisters, affectionately calling them his "brothers" and was always there for them. He had the biggest heart and made everyone around him feel special and valued.
He is survived by his loving parents, Mr. Paul Michael Castillo and Mrs. Zoraida Zarate Castillo; his cherished sisters, Michelle Anastasia Castillo, Bianca Mercedes Castillo, and Julianna Mylene Castillo, with Alfredo Retana; his beloved fur baby, Yogi Castillo; and his dear nephews and niece, Jack D. Munguia, Eliseo D. Castillo, and Alezandria L. Retana. He is also survived by his maternal grandparents, Ms. Maria Luisa Zarate and Mr. Francisco Zarate; his paternal grandparents, Ms. Mary L. Castillo, Mr. Pablo L. Castillo Jr., and Sarah McNeil; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who loved him dearly.
Michael Zachary Castillo's presence brought joy to those who knew him, and his memory will forever be treasured. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. May he rest in eternal peace.
