Michael Cavanaugh, 70, a resident of East Wareham, died unexpectedly at home on Saturday, December 21, 2024. He was the husband of Anne Marie (Grondin) Cavanaugh. Son of the late William P. and Mary L. (Healy) Cavanaugh, he was born in Boston and raised in Stoughton. He was a graduate of Stoughton High School, Class of 1972 and Massasoit Community College in Brockton. Michael was a resident of Norton for 25 years before moving to East Wareham 5 months ago. He worked for Fidelity Investments at several different locations for 20 years before retiring in 2020. He loved playing golf and hockey, picture framing and making golf clubs but his greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially in York Beach, Maine.
In addition to his wife, Michael is survived by his children, Christen E. Cavanaugh and her fiancé Tyler Varda of Franklin, Shawn M. Cavanaugh and his partner Katelyn DiChiara of Nashua, NH, Sharon Barthel and her partner Michael Barthel of Providence, RI, Kelly Jaeger and her partner Andrew Peck and Melissa Lawrence and her partner Scott Mansur all of Attleboro as well as his grandchildren, Nolan Jaeger, Delia Barthel and Sophia Jaeger. He was the brother of Maureen Dunfey of Foxboro, Jeanne Gillpatrick of Wareham and Gerard Cavanaugh of Attleboro and is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visiting Hours will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rte. 27) Stoughton on Monday, December 30 from 4-7 PM. Funeral will be held from the Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 31 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton. In lieu of flowers, donations in Michael’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association, PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692 (https://www.heart.org/).
