Michael Stuart "Mike" Coates

Mike Coates, of Byars, Oklahoma was born October 24, 1942 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma to Roy Clarence and Cleo Helen (Blackwood) Coates. He passed away in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma at the age of 82 years 10 months and 10 days. Mike graduated from Stratford High School with the class of 1960. He served our country by joining the National Guard. He married Carolyn Brooks on June 26, 1964 in Oklahoma City and they just celebrated 61 years together. They were faithful members of Stratford First Baptist Church where Carolyn played the piano and Mike was the Song Leader. They had the Otasco store in Stratford and Save-Mor homes, a home improvement business. Mike loved fishing, bird hunting and most of all his family and the Lord Preceded by; his parents Roy and Cleo Coates. One Sister In Law Susan Coates. Survived by; his wife Carolyn of the home in Byars 2 sons Kevin Coates & wife Melissa of Ada, Ok Roy Coates of Byars, Ok 2 Grandsons Remington, and Aidan Coates both of Ada, Ok. Brother; Jim Coates of Pauls Valley, Ok. Nieces, and Nephews. Todd Miller, Jennifer Coates, Scott Coates, Kimberly Cochran, Lauren, Chrissy, Jamai Holmes, Jeremy Friar, and Jason Friar. Pallbearers; will be Todd Miller, Scott Coates, Jason Friar, Remmington Coates, Aidan Coates and Roy Coates. Pallbearers; Todd Miller, Scott Coates, Jason Friar, Remmington Coates, Aidan Coates, and Roy Coates Visitation will be Monday evening September 8, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM in DeArman/Pickard Funeral Home Stratford. Services; will be 2:00 PM Tuesday September 9, 2025 in DeArman/Pickard Chapel Stratford, Oklahoma. Officiating; Ludie Smith. Interment will follow in Byars cemetery Byars, Oklahoma.
