Obituary of Michael E. Colen
Michael E. Colen
Michael E. Colen, age 98, of Joliet, IL, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at Lakewood Nursing Home. He was born on December 10, 1926, in Chicago, IL, the beloved son of the late Caroline Dailey. He led a long and fulfilled life, marked by kindness, wisdom, and a hands-on approach, making him a trusted presence to many.
Known for his love of jazz music, Michael enjoyed the timeless sounds of Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin, watching western and gangster movies, loved his cars, and had a fascination with trains. Michael had a soft spot for animals, especially his dogs!
Michael's gentle spirit, enduring wisdom, and unwavering kindness will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Michael is survived by his two sons, Richard (Janet) Kolin and Frank (Debbie) Kolin; grandchildren, Richie (Christina), Shawn (Mary), Brittany, Spencer; great-grandchildren, Saulo, Chase, Charisma, Seneca, Jax, Lexi, and Kennadi; and his sister, Audrey.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ann (nee Smithka) Colen; his son, Michael J. Kolin (2019); his parents; and his siblings, Patricia, Joe, and Frank.
Funeral Services for Michael E. Colen will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd., Joliet, IL. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025, at the funeral home chapel from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.
