Michael Corbo, age 63, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 28, 2024 at his home with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Carmen (Garcia) Corbo for 22 years.
Michael was born in Waterbury, CT on November 16, 1960, son of the late Anthony L. and Loretta F. (Clemente) Corbo. He was a graduate of Wendell Cross Grammar School, Wallace Middle School and Crosby High School, Class of 1979. He earned an Associate's Degree in Science from Naugatuck Valley Community College, a Bachelor's Degree in General Studies from the University of Connecticut and a Master's Degree in Theology from the Spirit Life Bible College in Hartford. Michael worked for the City of Waterbury Refuse Department from 1985 until 2020 as a dispatcher and a waste recycle operator. He also worked for the Bureau of Rehabilitation Services since 1999.
Besides his wife Carmen of Waterbury, Michael leaves to cherish his memory, his son Anthony Corbo of Waterbury, and his mother Dorene Margison, sisters; Diane Corbo and her partner Valerie Carrano of Provincetown, MA, Michele Buerkle of Waterbury, a niece, Gina Nicole Buerkle of Waterbury, and his brother-in-law, Gary Buerkle of Prospect, as well as his children; his stepchildren whom he loved as his own; Danny and Jennifer Melendez, Vaneza & Javier Soto Melendez, Evinha Melendez, and Melvin Melendez, 17 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren, as well as countless spiritual sons and daughters.
The family would like to thank his caregivers; Yaritza DelValle, Davina Garcia, James O'Donnell, and Jazyra Melendez for the love and compassion given to him.
Arrangements: A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at 4:00 PM at Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, CT. A calling hour will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 3 to 4 p.m. Burial will be private.
