Michael Ray Cox, 73, of Kerrville, Texas, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2025, surrounded by his loving wife and family.
He was born on April 13, 1952, in Kansas City, Kansas (Wyandotte County) to James Richard Cox and Goldie Althea (Fuller) Cox. Michael grew up in Olathe, Kansas, alongside his four siblings, and graduated from high school in Kansas.
A few years after graduation, he proudly joined the United States Air Force on April 19, 1974, where he served in the Civil Engineering Division at Eglin Air Force Base in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. He was honorably discharged on December 19, 1978.
Throughout his life, Michael moved between Kansas and Texas before settling permanently in Kerrville in 2013. He married his first wife, Jessie Sue Brigham Cox, with whom he shared four children. Jessie passed away in 2018. Later that year, Michael met Linda at a church service held in a local restaurant. Their connection grew quickly, and they were married in 2020. Together, they built a life filled with love, faith, and laughter.
Michael loved tending to the beautiful garden he and Linda created together. He also had a passion for entertaining family and friends, cooking for large gatherings, and sharing his love of music through singing and playing guitar.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Cox; his children with Jessie, Michelle Cox Ebner (Jeremy), Regina Cox Manning, Farrell Cox (Erin), and Goldie Cox Schneider (Kelly); his "adopted children," Ben Mauldin (Allie), Nathan Mauldin (Sivalee), Bethany Mauldin Hill (Greg), Levi Mauldin (Grace), and Shilo Mauldin (Jacinta); his sister, Connie Jo Burnett (Randy); 25 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jessie Cox; his parents, James and Goldie Cox; and siblings, James Leon Cox, Henry Paul Cox, and Ida Mae.
Visitation will be held Thursday, November 13, 2025, from 4:00–6:00 PM at Wright's Funeral Parlor.
A funeral service will take place Friday, November 14, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Wright's Funeral Parlor, followed by interment with a police escort to Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Michael will be remembered for his faith, generosity, and unwavering love for his family. His kind heart and joyful spirit will live on in all who knew him.
