It is with heavy hearts and fond memories that we announce the passing of a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and family man, Michael E. Curran, lovingly known as Mike, of Burlington, WV. Mike went home to be with his Eternal Father on February 11, 2025, at the Winchester Medical Center at the age of 73.
Born on March 1, 1951, in Winchester, VA, Mike was a proud son of the late William P. and Virginia L. (See) Curran. He now joins his parents, his brother William Ronnie Curran, and his granddaughter Montana Kesner who have preceded him in death.
Mike is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Jalene Rae (Miller) Curran, his loving children Michelene R. Kesner and husband James of Virginia Beach, VA and Michael P. Curran and Amanda Merrit of Burlington;, his cherished grandchildren, Talon Kesner, Seneca Kesner and Leland Inskeep; his loving sister, Wanda L. Deihl and fiance, Sango Mongold; a niece Rhonda Simpson; his "second" Dad, Louis P. "Sonny" High; his blood brother, Kevin High and many extended members of the Miller family.
Mike was a man of many talents and passions. He was a graduate of Hampshire High School and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War era. He went on to become a successful self-employed auctioneer and real estate broker after graduating from the Nashville Auction School. For over 45 years, he dedicated himself to serving his community through his auctioneering. Mike had a special gift for connecting with people and was a beloved figure in his community.
Outside of his career, Mike found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, finding solace in the great outdoors. His musical talents were also a source of pride, as he was known for his skills as a songwriter and guitarist. Mike truly enjoyed performing and sharing his love for music with those around him.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at the Smith Funeral Home, Burlington Chapel, on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, from 4-7 p.m.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., followed by interment at the Elijah High Cemetery in Purgitsville, WV where military honors will be accorded.
In remembrance of Mike's down-to-earth nature, any attire is appropriate, especially blue jeans. Mike will be dearly missed, but his legacy of love, dedication, and passion will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him. May he rest in peace.

Mike, I'm remembering the good times we had growing up together. From hunting rabbits with Tippy and Rebel, to riding horses (your horse Lightning always beat my pony Duke), to trying to start a rock band with Steve Thomas, to riding your Honda 150 Dream everywhere; we always had great adventures. You fought a long fight, but now you can rest in peace my friend. My sincerest sympathies to Jalene, Missy, and Mikey and families. May the Lord bless them and comfort them. Terry Smith
