Michael J. "Skip" Desimone, 70, a lifelong resident of Worcester, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones Monday, June 26th, 2023, after a brief illness.
Skip was born, raised, and lived in the Grafton Hill neighborhood and was extremely proud to do so. He was one of four children of Alfred A. Desimone Sr. and Lena (Laganelli) Desimone. He graduated from North High School and married his high school sweetheart and "love of his life" Angela M. Laflamme. They built a house off Grafton St. and raised their family with faith, love, dedication, and devotion. Skip worked to support his family in sales all his life, first for Montrose Wire and Cable and later for Belden Corporation, before retiring.
He is survived by his wife Angela, his two sons, Keith Desimone and his wife Kristy of Auburn, Reverend Nicholas Desimone, pastor of St. Mary's Church in Uxbridge, and his grandsons he adored, Anthony and Alex. He leaves a sister, Doris "Dede" Carpino and her husband Alan of Eden NC, brother, Robert "Robbie" Desimone and his wife Robin of Auburn, sister-in-law Laurie Desimone of Auburn, many nieces, nephews, extended family, and a host of friends. In addition to his parents, his brother and best friend Alfred "Junie" Desimone Jr. predeceased him.
Skip was a consummate family man who devoted his entire life to his family. He coached baseball at all levels when his sons played, and helped lead the renovation of the Tom Ash Little League fields in the 1990's. He was very proud to live his entire life on Grafton Hill, proud of his family, and his impeccably manicured yard. He was a dedicated friend to all with a bright smile, willingness to do things for others, and a proud father and mentor for his sons and whatever they chose to pursue in life. Skip was a classic car enthusiast, who enjoyed spending time at car shows with his friends and mornings in the coffee shop talking about life, the neighborhood, and the Red Sox. He loved his summer family vacations at Swift's Beach and spending time working on or cleaning his cars in the garage while listening to Motown. He will be missed and never forgotten.
Friends and relatives are invited to gather with the family, Friday, June 30th from 4 pm to 7 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. His celebration of Christian burial Mass will be held Saturday, July 1st from the funeral home with a procession to Our Lady of Loreto Church, 37 Massasoit Rd where his son Rev Nicholas Desimone will celebrate the Mass at 10 am. Burial will be in St John Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul, Saint Mary Church, 77 Mendon Street, Uxbridge, MA 01569.

My condolences on Mike's passing. I worked with him at Mohawk for over 12 years. We spent more time talking baseball (Cubs/Red Sox) than work. May he rest in peace.

I am so sorry to hear this news. I worked with Mike for years at Mohawk. I used to love seeing the pictures of the cars that he was restoring. Rest In Peace, Mike.
