Norman George Desimone, 91, of Posen passed away peacefully at home on July 22, 2025, in Posen. Born on June 20, 1934, in Warren, Michigan, to the late Samuel and Beatrice (Pagel) Desimone, Norm's life was a testament to the power of love, dedication, and service.

Norm's journey began as the youngest of nine siblings, a family where he learned the values of unity and compassion. After losing his first wife, Lillias, following 56 years of loving marriage, Norm found love again with Deborah, who became his partner and wife for 15 years until his passing.

A devoted father, Norm is survived by his daughter, Sharon Lachovsky, and was a proud grandfather to Jessica, Ryan, Michelle, Dylan, and David. His legacy continues through his seven great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren, who will carry forward his teachings and memories. Norm was preceded in death by his children, Mary Sue Desimone, Norman "Jim" Desimone, and his eight brothers and sisters, leaving behind a family that will forever cherish his memory.

Norm's professional life was marked by his 28 years of unwavering commitment to public service. As a retired police officer and firefighter for Oak Park, MI, he dedicated his career to protecting and serving his community. His bravery and selflessness were the cornerstones of his work, earning him the respect and admiration of all who knew him.

After moving to the Alpena area in 1994, Norm fully embraced his love for the outdoors. An avid fisherman and skilled woodworker, he found joy in the simplicity of nature and the satisfaction of creating with his hands. At the remarkable age of 63, he built his own house, a feat that showcased his incredible handiness and determination.

Norm's involvement with the Alpena FOP Lodge was a reflection of his ongoing commitment to fellowship and support among his peers. His active membership was just one of the many ways he continued to give back to the community he held so dear.

Above all, Norm was a family man. His happiest moments were those spent surrounded by his loved ones, sharing stories, laughter, and the occasional fish tale. His kind spirit and handy skills made him the go-to person for family and friends, always ready to lend a hand or offer a word of encouragement.

A celebration of Norm's life will be held at the lake house on August 16, 2025 at 1pm. Memorial donations can be made to the FOP Lodge #46 of Alpena. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery. McWilliams Funeral Home has handled arrangements.
