Michael Joseph Downs

Michael Joseph Downs, born on August 11, 1953, to Ann Leary and William Edward Downs in Lynn, Massachusetts. He peacefully passed away on May 9, 2024, at his home in Barrington, NH. He is survived by his loving wife, Suzanne Downs, Daughters Kim Leo and Heather Elliot, adopted son Izzy Owner and seven siblings: Valerie Payne, Mariann Kyle, William Edward Downs, Joseph Downs, Peter John Downs, John Philip Downs and Jean Catherine Aldrich.
He will be fondly remembered by cousin Nancy Pickett and Robert Cousins.
Michael leaves behind his cherished grandchildren Angelina, Kai, Rhys, Gavin and August aged 16 to 7. He adored spending time teaching them how to fish at the Lake House.
Michael was a proud graduate of Dover High School, Class of 1972, and worked as a Local 976 International Labor for 30 years before retiring.
Known for his love of camping, hiking, fishing, hunting and water skiing. Michael enjoyed cruising in his African Queen wooden pontoon boat on North River Lake, greeting his community and friends with a cheerful laughter and bell. He was always willing to help others, radiating happiness and a warm smile wherever he went. Michaels beloved dogs, Floppy, Tucker and Henry to name a few, brought him immense joy.
Services to honor Michael's life will be held at Purdy Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 2 Concord Rd, Lee, NH 03861on Friday, May 17th 5-7pm. In leu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to The Special Olympics in Michael's memory.
