Michael Erts Obituary
Born March 24, 1949, in Poughkeepsie, he was the son of the late Thomas Q. Erts and Margaret Dolan Erts.
Mike earned his associate degree from Marist College, where he was a standout football player and set a record for interceptions returned for touchdowns, earning the nickname "Dirty Erts".
On January 27, 1979, at the Poughkeepsie Courthouse, he married the former Donna Francese Erts. Mrs. Erts survives at home.
Mike worked as a truck driver for various companies, always enjoying being on the road. In his free time Mike could often be found fishing for stripers, trout, or taking trips to Oswego and South Sandy Creek in Pulaski for Steelhead fishing. He was also a lifetime member of the Pirate Canoe Club in Poughkeepsie.
Mike loved taking Sunday drives on his motorcycle or corvette with his wife Donna, hanging out with friends in his garage on Friday nights enjoying a cold silver bullet.
Always a true friend, Mike could always be found lending a hand to anyone in need, whenever they needed.
Along with his wife he is survived by his two sons: Michael LaFalce and wife Jackie, Jason LaFalce, and wife Kristin, four grandchildren: Ian Wilson, Mike LaFalce and wife Cheyenne, Isabella Wilson, and Maxwell LaFalce; four great grandchildren: Aria LaFalce, Ally LaFalce, Mikey LaFalce, and Roman Wilson.
He is also survived by his sisters, Carol Bartlett, Sister Nancy Erts, OP Dominican Sisters of Hope, Kathy Barton; brother-in-law Mike and wife Patty Francese, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his brother Tommy Erts, and sister Mary Sorrentino.
In keeping with his wishes cremation has taken place.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 AM on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at Regina Coeli Church, 2 Harvey Street, Hyde Park, NY.
Michael's family respectfully requests memorial donations to St Jude 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 (www.stjude.org).
Arrangements are under the direction of Sweet's Funeral Home, Inc., Rte. 9, Hyde Park.
