Obituary of Michael Lee Fenton
Mike took his last breath on Earth and his first breath in Heaven. He is in the arms of his savior Jesus. Michael Lee Fenton was born in Wyandotte, Michigan on January 13, 1954. He was the eldest of five children born to Robert Lee and Arlene Margaret (Kivell) Fenton. Mike attended Trenton High School in Trenton, Michigan.
On April 27, 1974, Michael wed his best friend and the love of his life, the former Elaine Coomer, at First Baptist Church in Riverview, Michigan. The couple were blessed with a daughter, Victoria, and a son, Bryan. They were further blessed with the birth of four grandchildren: Chloe, Ava, Cooper, and Ayden. He provided for the needs of his family, employed as a foreman at the former Great Lakes Steel plant in Detroit, Michigan for thirty-two years before retiring in 2007. A devout Christian, Mike was an active member of Kirby Freewill Baptist Church in Flat Rock and a former parishioner of Heritage Baptist Church in Monroe where he served as a deacon.
Mike loved being immersed in the great outdoors. A certified scuba diver, he volunteered his time at the Brownstown Township Fire Department. He hunted deer and fished in the Irish Hills area of Michigan, often parking his camper-trailer at a local Christian campground. Mike also loved visiting his cabin in Hale, Michigan. The proud owner of two tractors, a Kubota and a Ford, Mike used them to assist in yard work but truthfully simply enjoyed admiring them from his window. Mike often tuned into "Law and Order" on television and never missed cheering on his favorite teams from Michigan State University.
Mike was proud of his heritage and conducted research into his family's ancestry by reading many genealogy books. As a devoted family man, he loved his family dearly and especially relished spending time with his grandchildren. Mike loved rocking them when they were babies. As they grew, he was never too proud to get on the floor and play "cars" with them. Mike often packed their lunches and drove them to school. Many wonderful memories were made taking the girls to Daddy/Daughter dances. A wonderful cook, Mike often treated the family to his delicious beef stew, meat loaf, and pork chops.
Michael Lee Fenton, age 70, of Rockwood, Michigan went home to be with his Lord on Monday; February 12, 2024 at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit.
