Obituary of Michael J. Flynn
Michael Joseph Flynn, Sr., age 64, of Plainfield, passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at Silver Cross Hospital, with his loving family by his side, after fighting a brave battle.
Born November 21, 1959, in Chicago, to Francis and Elaine (Batruel) Flynn, he grew up in Chicago, later moving to Oak Forest, where he graduated from Oak Forest High School with the Class of 1977.
Mike was a proud member of Carpenter's Local #13, Chicago, where he applied his skills as a carpenter, and served as Job Superintendent for many years.
Mike will be remembered as a great husband, father and grandfather who cherished spending time with his loving grandchildren. He was a hard worker with a big heart, and had many talents, especially his woodworking skills. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, golfing, and making frequent camping trips to Michigan with family.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 43 years, Susan (nee Paetsch) Flynn; two sons, Michael (Christina) Flynn, Jr., and Patrick (Jennifer) Flynn, Sr.; two daughters, Kelly (Kyle) Ryon and Amy (Zachary) Brenza; his grandchildren, Patrick Jr. and Lukas Flynn, Hailie and Brooklyn Stoll, Madison, Taylor and Hayden Ryon, Brady Brenza, and baby boy Brenza, due in October; three sisters, Janice (Michael) Cieniawski, Sharon (William) McPhail and Mary Ann (Steve) Brody; his wife's extended family; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Donald P. Flynn (September 7, 2017); his parents; and three brothers, Thomas Thorsen, Patrick Flynn and John Flynn.
Visitation for Michael Flynn will be held Wednesday, May 29, 2024, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, Joliet. At 7:00 p.m., there will be a time of sharing memories to conclude the evening. Cremation rites will be accorded following his funeral services and interment will be private.
