Michael Len Foiles, 73, passed away July 13, 2024.
Mike was born in East Alton, IL to Walter E. Foiles and V. Fern (Dove) Foiles on August 19, 1950. He is preceded in death by his mother and father.
He is survived by his wife Elaine, children Daniel (Elizabeth) Lindgren, Emily Lindgren (Tyler Mergel), grandchildren Evangeline, Flora and Millie Lindgren and Alia Mergel and siblings Kevin Foiles of Cortez, CO and Patricia Payne (Kenny) of Kansas City And a loving community of family and friends.
Mike retired from the City of Kansas City, MO where he had been an accountant for 27 years. And found his true calling at Worlds of Fun where he was a landscaper, was various characters during Halloween Haunt (during which he was an award winning Vampire) and finally his dream job as a train engineer.
He was a proud member of 2 bowling teams and always enjoyed discussions of bowling techniques.
Mike will also be remembered for his musical talents of singing and banjo playing - at church, at festivals, in theater productions, jamming at the homes of friends and family and in honky tonks when visiting family in Texas. One of his favorite jam sessions was in Lukenbach, Texas.
But his greatest joy was his family and especially being a grandad.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, July 27, 2PM at Immanuel Presbyterian Church, 3800 NE Parvin Road.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Mike had such a wide range of interests! I learned all about the hurdy gurdy one afternoon while bowling with Mike. He was quite musical and very knowledgeable. His tee shirts were a reflection of the things he cared about but his biggest passion were the grandkids and the fun he had with them.

Mike was a great person to be around. He was very proud of and always talked of his work at World's of Fun, especially as a train engineer. He enjoyed bowling very much and was very good at it, and had a great family of friends there as well. Prayers to the family. He will be sorely missed!!

I had the privilege of working with Mike for two seasons at WOF. He was truly one of the nicest and most caring persons I've ever known, and a terrific steam locomotive engineer. He loved to talk about his family, and you knew immediately how much he cared for them. My prayers go out to his family and friends at this sad time, and in the days ahead.

Mike was a great, fun teammate. A competitive bowler, helping our team win 1st place and patient when he joined our summer family team of beginners. Mike was a great storyteller. We loved hearing about his trips with Elaine and his adventures with the WOF train, and he loved talking about his grandkids. We will miss Mike (and his hats). Our prayers for Mike's family.
