Michael Blair Frain age 84 passed away peacefully on February 20th with family at his side.
Formerly of Barrington Hills, Illinois where he and his wife Pat raised their family on a rural horse farm outside of the city of Chicago, Mike traveled an hour each way to his family owned company in the city. Andy Frain Ushers and Security was founded in 1934 by their father Andy and after his death carried on by his sons.
Michael became the CEO of the company where he served with his brothers for 27 years. During this time the company provided ushers and security for Kentucky Derbies from 1960 through 1990, 15 political conventions in Chicago, Florida and Atlanta, 3 world fairs, the Chicago Bears, Chicago White Sox, Cubs at Wrigley Field, all Chicago Rock concerts including the first Beatle concert in 1964, and Queen Elizabeth's visit to Chicago to name a few. Mike also negotiated with the unions well and was close to then Mayor Daley and many Chicago organizations.
When the Frain brothers sold the business. Mike and his wife retired to their farm in Galena, Illinois, had a home in Scottsdale, Arizona, then moved to Longboat Key and Sarasota, Florida.
Mike was an avid tennis player, reader of history, fan of old classic movies, collector of toy soldiers and western art.
Mike leaves his beloved wife Pat of 64 years, daughter Kelly Frain Clayton of Jupiter, Florida and son Michael Andrew Frain of Wesley Chapel, Florida. Pat and Mike as they were always affectionately called have 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren
Celebration of life will take place at St. Mary Star of the Sea sometime in May, on Longboat Key.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Southeastern Guide Dogs.
