Michael Ganske Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Beck Funeral Home in Cedar Park on Dec. 12, 2022.
As deer season comes to a close, so too does the life of Mike Ganske who died on December 8, 2022, at the age of 62.
Michael Lee Ganske was born in Waco, Texas on November 29, 1960, to Fredrick Leon Ganske and Lelia Ruth Long. He was preceded in death by his mother Ruth Haggerty, stepfather Marlin "Tex" Haggerty, and brother Jonathan Ganske. He is survived by his life partner Debbie Van Loan; father Fredrick Leon Ganske and Vicki; siblings Fred Ganske, Kelly Haggerty, James Haggerty, Gordon (Debra) Ganske, Robert (Allie) Abraham, and Matthew (Avery) Ganske.
In the early eighties, Mike worked as a seismic cable and geophone technician on a seismographic barge out of Louisiana. Following that he was a truck driver for Austin White Lime among others. He went on to work as directing manager of construction for Main Street Homes. For the last fifteen years he was employed as a remodeling contractor and professional stonemason.
Mike was an active outdoorsman, hunter, and fisherman. He never missed the opening week of hunting season in the Davy Crockett National Forest and spent his summers at the lake on his boat. In the woods and on the water, he was accompanied by his beloved dogs, Cowboy and Forrest. Mike was a member of the American Poolplayers Association (APA) and entertained everyone with his wonderful sense of humor while telling a joke or a story.
Mike was his own man and a free spirit. He was strong, willful, and demanded honesty and fair play. He was helpful, thoughtful, respectful, honorable, and reliable. He hated being indebted to anyone and his word was good as gold. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Texas Parks and Wildlife online at TPWD Donations or by mail to Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation, 2914 Swiss Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75204.
